IRCC confirmed on June 12, 2026, that it resolved an invitation problem affecting Express Entry draw #418. The French-language proficiency round was held on May 28, 2026, with 4,500 invitations and a CRS cut-off of 409.
IRCC says candidates who were eligible should now have received their invitations to apply.
- Check your IRCC account immediately if you qualified for French-language Express Entry draw #418 but did not initially receive an invitation.
- Confirm that your profile was active, your CRS score met the cut-off, and you satisfied the French-language category requirements on the draw date.
- Do not assume that the correction changes the draw’s CRS cut-off or guarantees eligibility for candidates who did not meet every requirement.
IRCC resolves Express Entry draw #418 invitation issue
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has confirmed that it resolved an issue affecting invitations from Express Entry round #418, held on May 28, 2026.
The round targeted candidates eligible under the French-language proficiency category. IRCC posted the following update on its official Express Entry rounds page: candidates who were eligible for the round should now have been invited.
This is a correction to the administration of an earlier draw, not a new Express Entry draw conducted on June 12. IRCC has not announced a different CRS cut-off, a new invitation total or an additional category-based round as part of the update.
Candidates can review the notice on the official IRCC Express Entry rounds of invitations page.
Express Entry draw #418 results
| Draw | Date | Invitations | CRS Score | Draw Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| #418 | May 28, 2026 | 4,500 | 409 | French-language proficiency, category-based |
Round #418 selected candidates from the French-language proficiency category. To qualify for this category, a candidate must generally have eligible French test results showing at least NCLC.
7 in all four language abilities and must be eligible for at least one program managed through Express Entry.
Meeting the CRS cut-off alone is not sufficient. A person must also have satisfied the category requirements, maintained an active and. eligible Express Entry profile, and complied with the round’s tie-breaking rule where applicable. The official category-based selection requirements should be reviewed before concluding that an invitation was missed.
Who may be affected by the corrected invitations
The update is most relevant to candidates who believed they qualified for draw #418 but did not receive an invitation after the May 28 round.
Candidates with CRS scores above 409
A candidate with a score above 409 may have been affected if the profile was active. at the time of the round and all French-language and Express Entry program requirements were met.

Candidates with a CRS score of exactly 409
Candidates at the cut-off must also satisfy the tie-breaking rule published for draw #418. A profile submitted after the applicable tie-breaking date and time would not qualify merely because it had 409 points.
Candidates whose profiles were updated near the draw date
Applicants should confirm when important changes became effective in their profiles. New language results, work experience, education, marital-status information or other updates may affect both the CRS score and eligibility.
Information added after the round cannot normally establish eligibility retroactively.
What affected candidates should do now
- Sign in directly to the IRCC account. Do not rely only on an email notification. Review the account’s message section and Express Entry profile status.
- Confirm the profile’s status on May 28. The profile needed to be active and eligible when IRCC conducted the round.
- Recalculate the CRS score. Confirm that the score shown on the relevant date was at least 409. Review how to improve and verify your CRS score if the account calculation is unclear.
- Verify French-language eligibility. Confirm that approved test results were valid and demonstrated at least NCLC 7 in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
- Review the tie-breaking rule. This is particularly important for candidates whose CRS score was exactly 409.
- Preserve supporting records. Save screenshots, profile submission records, language results and any messages received from IRCC.
- Report an unresolved problem. A candidate who appears to satisfy every requirement but still has no invitation should use the official IRCC web form or technical support channel.
Candidates who receive an invitation should carefully verify that the CRS points and eligibility claimed in the profile can be supported by documents. An invitation does not protect an applicant from refusal if the submitted evidence does not support the information used to obtain the invitation.
Analysis: CRS trend and IRCC’s invitation strategy
Analysis: The CRS cut-off of 409 was nine points higher than the 400-point cut-off in the previous French-language draw on April 29, 2026. It remained below the 419-point cut-off recorded on April 15 and was higher than the 393-point cut-off on March 18.
Round #418 issued 4,500 invitations, compared with 4,000 invitations in each of the April 15 and April 29 French-language rounds. The combination of a larger invitation total and a moderately higher cut-off suggests that the.
number and ranking of eligible French-speaking candidates in the pool can change significantly between rounds.
The correction benefits candidates who met the French-language category criteria but were apparently not issued invitations during the original processing of the round.
It does not benefit candidates who lacked valid French results, were ineligible for. all Express Entry programs, had expired profiles or failed the applicable tie-breaking rule.
Possible interpretation: IRCC’s decision to correct the affected invitations indicates that the department intended. to implement the original terms of draw #418 rather than conduct a replacement round. It also reinforces the importance of French-language proficiency within category-based Express Entry selection.
Further category-based draws may occur, including French-language or occupation-based rounds, but IRCC has not confirmed which category will be selected next. The technical correction should not be treated as evidence that another draw will occur on a particular date.
Practical Express Entry strategy after the correction
Candidates who did not qualify for draw #418 should keep their profiles accurate and consider several legitimate ways to become more competitive. These may include improving English or French test results, obtaining additional skilled work. experience, documenting education correctly, updating accompanying-spouse factors and exploring Provincial Nominee Program pathways.
French-speaking candidates should review French-language category eligibility and document requirements. A language test must remain valid, and the scores recorded in the Express Entry profile must match the official results.
Candidates with expiring work permits or temporary status should not assume that an Express. Entry profile or invitation automatically extends their authorization to remain or work in Canada.
Status and permanent residence planning should be assessed separately.
